Question: How to Shut Down a Service

    Hey all!

I wanted to chime in here too. My first instinct was to try to bull my way through the whole thing as quickly as I could. But then I realized that each of the modules is actually asking some deep, insightful questions. I am finding myself pondering on each of the modules for several days at a time. It’s already prompted a bit of soul searching, even after three modules. So, I would say just keep at it and try to keep engaged as much as you can without feeling the need to rush. This is important stuff we’re doing!

    Good luck.

    Hi Alicia,

I was actually thinking the same thing about myself. Without a firm deadline or other pressure, I sometimes allow things to slip (even important things like this!) I’d be happy to be an accountability buddy, if you’re interested!

    Hello everybody,

I’m so excited to be reading everybody’s stories and learning from one another. Honestly, it’s hard for me to “put myself out there,” which is sometimes a difficult thing to overcome as a business owner. But, I’m giving it a try and appreciate the opportunity to grow.

I started my business, Equa Solutions, in 2009. I started the business as a government-contracting firm, pursuing construction management work with federal agencies (I know, a bit off the wall, but bear with me for a bit!) Honestly, construction management was never my passion or even something I was good at. I stumbled into it. But, what I was always really good at was writing and managing proposals, both for myself, but also for other companies. I love helping other people write their stories and win work to grow their empires. So, my business also did a bit of that over the years. Fast forward to today, and I’m officially pivoting out of the construction field and ready to focus largely on the proposal management side of things. On top of all of that, I recently completed a MS degree in Measurement and Evaluation (yay!) and am truly hoping to take on some evaluation work through my business. I just started a very small project as an evaluation subcontractor, but I know there’s room to grow.

So, I guess I am here to help me manage this big pivot. I love the consulting field: I love proposal management, and am loving becoming an evaluator. These are what I want to do. But I know my business isn’t built around that yet. My website and brand obviously need re-work. I don’t know how I feel about my logo, and of course my website needs to be completely re-vamped. I’m absolutely dreadful at marketing myself. Whenever I post about myself on social media, my shyness kicks in and I hesitate even clicking “post.”

I’m not sure how this became a therapy session, but just wanted to lay everything out there. I have lots of big goals and ambitions, and I truly hope to be able to help others with theirs in the coming days and weeks. Thanks so much for reading my rambles 🙂
