Question: Bio Makeovers

Hi KaYing:
Congratulations on this achievement! Your website looks great. It’s a great mix of colors and clearly explains the work that you do. The testimonials and project summaries also convey your expertise and track-record.
My plans to work through the modules over the summer just did not work out. There were just too many deadlines and competing priorities. I came back to the course thinking that I was probably the only one with this challenge. These last few posts have made me realize that this certainly is not the case. Sarah, thanks for starting the conversation.
Thanks for sharing, Chris.
Hi Stephanie:
I am absolutely fascinated by your work. Evaluation within the context of the creative industries is an area that is relatively new to me. Your website is really good. Stephanie E. is correct, the messaging is very clear. I like how you outline your history and work.
This is second time that I have seen a website that was done by that particular designer. If you don’t mind my asking, which platform was it built with?
Hi Janet:
You maybe just getting started on the business side, but you already have the technical knowledge and passion for assisting young people with disabilities. It seems like you are tapping into a unmet need and your areas of focus are unique. I look forward to hearing about your progress.
Hi KaYing:
Welcome! I love your can do attitude and the idea of a minimum viable product for a website.

You are correct! It takes reflection and soul searching when working through the modules. I love how you stated that we are doing important stuff…

I actually like Squarespace and it would work for now. I keep thinking about later on and how it may not be the best option when I am ready to add other features. That’s my only concern about it.
I watched the video in the module and it is quite insightful. Especially the guidance that a website is never done.
Nicole Hazel replied on March 8, 2023 at 9:21 am in reply to: Web Hosting Domain Recommendations #3308Hi everyone:
I don’t currently have a website and have been looking at options. The feedback that I have received so far is that WordPress and custom websites are better than platforms such as Squarespace or Wix. That is, with a custom website there would be no limitations on the services that I can add-on at a later date. But greater freedom comes at a significantly higher cost. So what should be my main consideration at this stage?

Yes, giving ourselves grace is a must. I have learnt the hard way how long its takes to put things in place. Especially when doing client work and trying to meet deadlines.

I also feel a sense of urgency to work through the modules and get things done. But I also recognize that’s not possible and it will take time to process the content, make plans and to execute them. So my current approach is to initially work on a module over 1-2 weeks.
Stephanie’s response about the last cohort shows that this is a long game. By that I mean some of the modules will only really make sense when we are at that particular stage in our businesses.

Hi everyone, I am Nicole from Barbados. For the past 13 years, I have been a full-time Monitoring, Evaluation and Research Consultant specializing in health and social development. In 2021, I set-up my company East Bridge Global Inc. and I have been focused since then on building it up.
I would describe myself as a reluctant entrepreneur but in a good way. Reluctant in the sense that I was focused on technical work, and only after I achieved some success did I realize that I could do even more great things. Strange but true….
I decided to take this course to learn more about business development in a space with like minded professionals. Traditional business courses seem to miss the mark. Stephanie thanks a million for developing this course.
Now that I have claimed the title of business owner, I realized that there is a need to really work on things like processes and systems, branding and marketing and sales. This path is an exciting and scary one. Looking forward to working with you all over the next few weeks.
