Question: Bio Makeovers

Asked by:

  • in reply to: unwanted LinkedIn visitor #4730

I have had to block a former employer and, while I assume they can come across my content if they search it(?) I have never had to see their name on LinkedIn again, which is what I was looking for.

Yes please. This is my bio on my website, not my bio for like a speaker event. Let me know if you want the other:

    Hi there, I’m Tait.
I didn’t used to consider myself a “data person,” until my new boss at a college-access foundation said something along the lines of “you seem like a nerd, want to take on our data so we can translate our work to the board?”
I began to wrestle with questions like “how do we know if our programs are “working?” and “what do we even mean by “working?” and “which students are we not reaching?”

I became enamored with program strategy and how teams can USE the data they have and ask big questions that lead to better outcomes for students.

These days I teach other higher education teams how to use data, primarily by coaching cohorts of program-level staff.

I believe in building on the expertise of program staff, and making data utilization skills feel accessible for everyone.

I hold a doctorate from Tulane University in City, Culture, and Community — Sociology, a master’s degree from Columbia University in Higher and Postsecondary Education, and a bachelor’s degree from Millsaps College.

I am currently the Consulting Project Manager for the Joint Statement on Analytics.
This partnership is between the Association for Institutional Research (AIR), EDUCAUSE and the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO), funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. In collaboration with analytic leaders at institutions across the country, we are writing a guide for institutional leaders on how to build a culture of analytics, coming out in April 2024. Connect with me on LinkedIn to follow along.

Nice to meet you Lisa. Looks like we’re both nerds for learning 🙂
