I'm connecting with folks here but will also put out an open call specifically to connect around Boost and Bloom and connecting as humans, not in the pitch-slap LinkedIn way (I truly truly have too much of this). Happy to learn where you are in all of this, who you are as a human, and whatever else you're seeking here. I started my career as an American Sign Language interpreter. I learned ASL from the Deaf community, spent time interpreting before I realized it was an actual job, and was encouraged by Deaf friends to go into the profession. I spent time freelancing in medical and post-secondary before joining a startup offering remote interpretation. Call me a remote radical because of that experience, but I truly believe most if not all of my work can be done without stepping foot into an office. I found my way into analytics by accident - at that same startup, I joke I've done every job at least once, but I really have - IT, lay accounting, HR, marketing, sales support, and yes, all those Excel reports we used to send. I was part of the committee that selected Tableau as a BI tool and fell in love with finding insights. I left a job where I had an office, assistant, and team to go do this analysis thing. I've since cofounded a company and coauthored a book. You can call me lazy or collaborative. I am currently 2.5 years in on cofounding one company and hoping to get some direction from this course. I've coauthored a book, helped a number of companies find success, and am hoping to give some of that magic to myself. I've touched various aspects of AI (NLP, speech, IoT), predictive analytics, visualization, and creating embedded data products. As a human, I have a lovely family - a spouse that loves me enough to bring me coffee in the morning and a child that at 11 still likes to hang with me in the mornings and at night. We have not 1, not 2, but 3 cats that don't fully get along. I read a fair bit, am learning Korean (안녕하세요!), and do several traditional Korean martial arts (taekwondo, sword, and kickboxing). I have extensive experience with hospice, grief, and dealing with hard times. I will happily discuss ethics, sociology, grief, and many other topics.
